The school was started in the year 1974 with
only one class i.e., lower K.G. as a K.L.E. Society’s English Medium School.
Initially it was located in the old boys hostel of B.V. Bhoomaraddi college of
Engineering and Technology and it continued to function there from 1974 to 1990.
The founder chairman of the school was Late Sri. R.G. Wali who was a director of
the K.L.E. society at that time.
The school was shifted to the existing new building in the year 1991 and at that
time the school was renamed as K.L.E. Society’s, M.R. Sakhare English Medium
School. Sri Sakhare was one of the founder members and “Saptareshis” of the
K.L.E. Society. Sri Sakhare was himself a teacher having done M.A. from Bombay
University and teachers’ Diploma from England during those days. The school was
renamed after him in memory of the great and valuable service rendered by him
towards the K.L.E. Society and the educational field.
At the very beginning Mrs. Rose was the Head Mistress followed by Mrs. Kanade,
Mrs Glenda (1978-79), Mrs. Vibhavati Khanapuri (1980-84) daughter of Mr. M.R.
Sakhare, founder member of K.L.E. Society, Mrs. Shobha G. Bewoor (1985-2002),
Wg.Cdr.(Retd.) V.G. Byakod (2002-2007), Sri. T.A.S. Raman (2007 to 2010) and
Sri. D.V.J. Rao (May 2010 to April 2011), Smt. Catherine D. (April 2011 23rd May
2011) and Smt. Sharmila Hemant (since 23rd May 2011). 7th standard was added to
the school in the year 1981 and the first batch of S.S.L.C. with 6 students
passed out of the school in 1983. In the year 1996-97 SSLC examination centre
was sanctioned by the Government.
At present the students enrolled are 1424. CBSE stream 508 and State stream 916.
